Cat. 04 In Barn Improvements to Reduce Water Use and Manure Volume

Efficient livestock watering and manure clean-out systems can significantly reduce water
usage and consequently the manure volume generated by livestock facilities. Eligible
projects that target a 20% overall reduction in water usage are eligible for a 30% (to max. of
$15,000) cost-share incentive.

Components to Application:

• Complete a Third Edition EFP and have it peer reviewed
• Complete a Project Proposal Application (available from your local OSCIA County Program Representative)

Required Project Justification and Assurances Forms:

• None required for this category

Eligible Expenses. Eligible expenses include, but may not be limited to:

• See detailed Project Eligibility Policy and Procedures
• In hog facilities, conversion to wet/dry feeders; conversion from bite nipples to water bowls; and replacement of regular bite nipples with ball bite nipples.
• In poultry operations, replacement of water fountains with low flow cups or small nipples are eligible.
• In cattle operations the conversion to “frost free” watering systems
• Replacement of in-barn flush manure systems with mechanical systems.

Applicant Responsibilities:

• Obtain all building, siting, and design permits or approvals that might be required and ensure that the proposed project complies with all Municipal, Provincial and Federal Regulations

Project Requirements:

• Eligible proposals in this category are expected to target a 20% reduction in waterconsumption.
• The client may be asked to document the proposed reduction.
• This category is remedial in nature, new buildings are not eligible.
