Cat. 06 Relocation of Livestock Confinement and Horticultural Facilities from Riparian Areas

In certain circumstances the best way to reduce the environmental threat of a
poorly located facility is to relocate it to a different location with an inherently
lower environmental risk. A 50% (to max. of $30,000) cost-share incentive is
offered to eligible participants to help defray the costs of relocating existing
facilities such as barns, livestock yards, greenhouses and wintering sites away
from very environmentally sensitive areas. Cost-share opportunities will only
extend to replacing existing facilities with one of equivalent size and purpose

Components to Application:

• Complete a Third Edition EFP and have it peer reviewed
• Complete a Project Proposal Application (available from your local OSCIA County Program Representative)
• Read the Background Eligibility Information (attached to Justification and  Assurances Form)
• Return the completed and signed Project Justification and Assurance Form - U
• Extensive projects in this category that propose the relocation of buildings, require a support letter from an OMAFRA Nutrient Management Specialist confirming that the proposed project is a good solution to dealing with an existing environmental threat. (Prior to initiating the project)
• A site map clearly showing the location and description of existing facilities and proposed relocation site

Required Project Justification and Assurances Forms:

Eligible Expenses. Eligible expenses include, but may not be limited to:

• See detailed Project Eligibility Policy and Procedures
• Engineering and environmental permit costs
• Costs for equivalent structures, buildings corrals
• Runoff management systems, surface water diversions.

Applicant Responsibilities:

• Read and adhere to Construction Guidelines (as required)
• Complete the appropriate Project Justification and Assurances Forms
• Obtain all building, siting, and design permits or approvals that might be required and ensure that the proposed project complies with all Municipal, Provincial and Federal Regulations

Project Requirements:

• Cost-share will only apply to the portion of the project deemed to be equivalent to previously existing structures.
• Substantive upgrades in the size or quality of facilities or structures as part of the proposed project will not be eligible for the cost share
• The fair value and equivalent value of existing structures will be negotiated on a case by case basis with OSCIA prior to approval of the project.
