Cat. 07 Improvements to Wintering Site Pasture Management

Relevant BMP Practice Codes: 0701, 0702, 0703, 0704 and 0705

The increased level of nutrients created by concentrated livestock winter sites can create a
potential for water quality issues. A 50% (to max. of $15,000) cost-share incentive is offered
to defray the cost of instituting Best Management Practices associated with managing
wintering sites to reduce the potential for buildup or off site migration of nutrients from
wintering sites.

Components to Application:

• Complete a Third Edition EFP and have it peer reviewed
• Complete a Project Proposal Application (available from your local OSCIA County Program Representative)
• A site map clearly showing the location of the proposed improvements
• Read the Background Eligibility Information (attached to Project Justification and Assurances Form)
• Return the appropriate completed and signed Justification and Assurance Form - E

Eligible Expenses. Eligible expenses include, but may not be limited to:

• See detailed Project Eligibility Policy and Procedures
• Shelterbelt establishment
• Portable fencing and windbreaks
• Fence and laneway modifications in order to access improved or relocated wintering sites.

Applicant Responsibilities:

• Read and adhere to Construction Guidelines (as required)
• Complete the appropriate Project Justification and Assurances Forms - E
• Obtain all building, siting, and design permits or approvals that might be required and ensure that the proposed project complies with all Municipal, Provincial and Federal Regulations

Project Requirements:

• Large relocation projects should be undertaken under Cat 06
• Projects should involve initiatives to mitigate the negative impact of concentrating nutrient buildup in a given wintering site area.
