Cat. 16 Improved Pest Management (IPM) Practices

Relevant BMP Practice Codes: 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1605, and 1606

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a BMP that can reduce the volume of chemicals
used and minimizes potential adverse effects of pesticide use in crop production. A 30% (to
max. of $5,000) cost-share incentive is available to qualified participants to adopt
equipment and technologies that restrict spray drift, sample and monitor insect thresholds
and encourage less risky sprayer filling locations.

Components to Application:

• Complete a Third Edition EFP and have it peer reviewed
• Complete a Project Proposal Application and Project Justification and Assurances Form - B for Cat 1606 only. (available from your local OSCIA County Program Representative) The list of Invasive Alien Plants can be found at
  the bottom of this page.

Required Project Justification and Assurances Forms:

• Cat 1601 - 1605 None required for these categories
• Cat 1606 - Project Justification and Assurances Form - B

Eligible Expenses. Eligible expenses include, but may not be limited to:

• See detailed Project Eligibility Policy and Procedures
• Enclosed spray units
• Recycling units
• Low drift nozzles
• Rate controllers
• Weather monitor equipment
• Biological control agents
• Mobile water tanks for filling sprayers away from water sources
• Control of Invasive Alien plant species (Ontario List of Invasive Species below)

Applicant Responsibilities:

• Read and adhere to Project Eligibility Policy and Procedures Cat 16

Project Requirements:

Cost share will only be extended to specialized equipment directly related to improved
environmental practices, basic components such as: tanks, rolling chassis and pumps are
not eligible for cost-share.
