Cat. 27 Renewable Energy Production for On-Farm Use

Relevant BMP Practice Codes: 2701, 2702, 2703, 2704, and 2705

The development of on-farm renewable energy maybe a viable alternative for some farming
operations to lessen their need for energy from off-farm sources.
A 30% (to max. of $5,000) cost-share incentive is available to qualified participants
to undertake eligible renewable energy generation projects for on farm use.

Components to Application:

• Complete a Third Edition EFP and have it peer reviewed
• Complete a Project Proposal Application (available from your local OSCIA County Program Representative)
• Return the completed and signed Project Justification and Assurance Form - O

Eligible Expenses. Eligible expenses include, but may not be limited to:

• See detailed Project Eligibility Policy and Procedures
• Wind generation equipment
• Geo-thermal heating for farm buildings (domestic use excluded)
• Equipment to produce bio-diesel
• Solar, photovoltaic equipment and solar heating of water or space heating

Applicant Responsibilities:

• Read and adhere to Project Eligibility Policy and Procedures for Cat 27

Project Requirements:
Projects in this category are expected to reduce or replace existing demands on outside
energy sources.
