Canada-Ontario Farm Stewardship Program (COFSP)
This is a voluntary cost-share program to encourage producers to improve management of agricultural land through the adoption of Best Management Practices (BMP) to reduce risks to water and air quality, improve soil productivity enhance wildlife habitat, or result in energy conservation. Cost share for specific COFSP categories is set at either 30 percent or 50 percent, to the category caps. Under the Growing Forward initiative (April 2009 to March 2013) the maximum federal contribution per legal farm entity with a unique Farm Business Registration Number (FBRN) through COFSP is $30,000
COFSP is funded through Growing Forward (GF), supported by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), under the Best Practices suite.
