OSCIA continues to apply for programs that assist our members. We aim to find projects that support our vision statement to communicate and facilitate responsible, economic management of soil, water, air and crops. In 2007 – 2009, a new Local OSCIA Grant is available for trialing Fertilizer Beneficial Management Practices worth a total of $40,000 funded by Agricultural Adaptation Council, CanAdvance program and The Fertilizer Institute of Ontario. Ten Local Association projects of $4000/ 3 years are available. The local/county may evaluate any nutrient trial (N, P, K, Zn, B, Cu etc.) on any crop type (corn, soybean, cereal, forage, horticulture crop). The goals of the trials are to; 1) reduce the impact of commercial nutrient on the environment and/or 2) supply for a new niche market by targeting nutrient application to match a developing crop market need. All details of the new grant are in the Grant Guidelines on the OSCIA website.
