OSCIA has completed the "Evaluating Biodiesel for On-Farm Use" project which included six on-farm demonstrations across Ontario. Producers used 5% Canadian biodiesel supplied by UPI Inc., in their farm equipment over a full year of normal work duties. The co-operators kept logbooks to identify and evaluate practical issues associational with on-farm biodiesel use and to provide a mechanism for local consumer education.
Fuel properties and emissions were measured by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada as well as Environment Canada, and the results are summarized.
University of Guelph, Kemptville Campus provided complementary research on engine wear using 5% Biodiesel compared to regular diesel. The project results will be available on the OSCIA website early May.
This project was supported by Natural Resources Canada. Please follow the links below to more information about the project.
