Special Regional Communication Enhancement Grant
In recognition of the essential need for local and regional associations to actively communicate through the added challenges imposed by COVID-19, a Special Communication Enhancement Grant has been developed as one solution and is available immediately to Regional Associations for the remainder of 2020. This grant is retro-active to the beginning of physical distancing measures being put in place (i.e. March 16, 2020 ).
To respect the need for physical distancing, in-person planning meetings and membership activities are on indefinite hold. However, members are quickly realizing the wonderful opportunities available through video conferencing that enables users to video chat, instant message, assign tasks, survey members, conduct webinars and more. This was recently illustrated through the tremendous success of the “Farming in a Pandemic” virtual meeting organized by a collaboration of members from different areas.
Up to $500 is now available through the Special Communication Enhancement Grant. The one-time grant is only available to Regional Associations of Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) with expectations they will secure the chosen subscription(s) and make opportunities available to their local associations to utilize the technology. Should a local association wish to purchase their own account, it needs to be coordinated through the Region and the claim submitted through the Region. Funding for the special grant is provided through OSCIA. The deadline to submit a final claim is December 30, 2020.
We trust this special grant will help secure the needed communication platforms in order for the regions and locals to continue with some membership engagement activities during these unprecedented times.
All claims MUST be received in the Provincial office no later than December 30, 2020.
- The grant can be used to purchase up to a one-year subscription in the communication technologies of their choice (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, conference call service, WebEx, etc.).
- The Regional Communication Coordinator or Regional Secretary may be in the best position to investigate the preferred option, secure the subscription, and share logistics and procedures with the local associations on behalf of the Region.
- The invoice and proof of payment can be submitted along with the claim form to the Guelph office for payment.
- The Communication grant cannot be used in combination with another OSCIA grant (i.e. cannot be used towards the same project expenses)
