Soil and Crop Sustainability Fund

Soil and Crop Sustainability Fund

What is it?

The OSCIA Soil and Crop Sustainability Fund currently consists of two portions: The Soil Health Graduate Scholarship, and the OSCIA Internal Fund. Structurally, additional designated funds may be added to the OSCIA Soil and Crop Sustainability Fund in the future.

How will the funds be used?

Soil Health Graduate Scholarship, University of Guelph

  • Scholarship up to $10,000 will be offered to graduate students whose research will focus on soil health or soil quality projects;
  • Selection will be made by the University’s internal selection process;
  • OSCIA will have the opportunity to consult with researchers to encourage their interest in soliciting students for focused research on soil health and soil quality;
  • OSCIA will be informed of the University’s selection, introduced to the student and cooperate where possible in communication and on-farm collaboration;
  • Research results will be reported to OSCIA which may be profiled on OSCIA’s website, annual meetings and other workshops.

OSCIA Soil and Crop Sustainability Fund (Internal)

  • Is intended for on-farm applied research. Funding will be dispersed at the discretion of the OSCIA Executive;
  • Should follow an accepted design protocol for on-farm research;
  • Communication and outreach will profile the projects and their results.

How will I benefit?

  • A donation to the Soil Health Graduate Scholarship will provide a charitable tax receipt from the University of Guelph;
  • For donations over $5,000, a ‘Gift Agreement’ may be provided, which can provide additional recognition to the donor;
  • Graduate or research scholarships may be developed with other institutions at the request of the donor. Please contact OSCIA for further details;
  • This website will profile specific projects as a result of your contributions.
