A four-year initiative undertaken with the financial support of the Canada Water Agency to enhance the understanding and implementation of agricultural best management practices (BMPs) that reduce phosphorus runoff into Lake Erie.
About LEEAAP
A collaborative effort for lasting impact, this research program advances sustainable agriculture through a data-driven approach to reducing phosphorus from agricultural fields into Lake Erie.
Promote Practical Implementation: Support on-farm implementation of phosphorus reduction efforts in priority subwatersheds.
Enhance Water Quality Monitoring: Establish standardized testing parameters for water quantity and quality, climate, soil heath, and farm-field management and production data.
Knowledge Transfer & Capacity Building: Deliver workshops, factsheets, case studies and field demonstrations for farmers and conservationists.

This project is undertaken with the financial support of the Canada Water Agency’s Great Lakes Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative. LEEAAP builds on investments from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA) through the On-Farm Applied Research and Monitoring (ONFARM) Program.
